It looks comfortable and fun, and if you look carefully, there are all kinds of neat light fixtures to drool over. The contemporary interior is by MCK Architects, of course, but the choice of furnishings can be credited to the residents – an active family of four. This explains a few of the more interactive modern design features, like the wrap-around seating on the patio (perfect for barbecues) and a great classic snooker table for indoor fun. An abundance of beautiful wood stretches from wall to wall, adding height and length where used. The island countertop in the kitchen is made of concrete and simply finished with a trowel-created texture – a very sensible and attractive solution. What a wonderful atmosphere. This sight mesmerized us all as children, and now we can enjoy a more refined version of this natural wonder from the comfort of home. Transparent cords suspend each individual piece in weightless interaction. Constructed out of sustainably grown birch wood, this suspension light combines the best of simple materials and complex, thought-provoking forms. We think this unique modern lighting solution would look great against a neutral or soft palette, but we would love to hear your own ideas inspired by the Woods Suspension Lamp – just leave us a comment below! LightingCeiling + Suspension * Fascinating Black Pearl Studio in RotterdamFeb. 23 2012 12:47am | By FOKaL - Space + Places  |  Permalink The aptly named Black Pearl Studio is an ambitious complete renovation by Studio Rolf.fr and Zecc Architecten. This incredible interior design has a lot of inspiration to offer those who have a desire to delve in to the details. The interior is distinctly industrial, but the furnishings (some of which are by Studio Rolf.fr) are a wonderfully unconventional mix of contemporary minimalism and rough rustic whimsy. One unique feature after another serves to delight the imagination – a hot tub on the roof, surprising textures on select ceilings, and a full workshop on the ground floor. The home decor seems strongly inspired by the spirit of sculpture. We have never seen a dwelling quite like the Black Pearl Studio. The untouched surfaces are a reminder of how far this space has come – it is undoubtedly a renovation worth remembering. via: Dezeen TravelArchitecture * 2011 Nelson Tray Table from Herman MillerFeb. 21 2012 12:42am | By FOKaL - Hot Products  |  Permalink Take time to soak in the Nelson Tray Table, because this exclusive modern design will not be sticking around for very long. This designer table is part of the Herman Miller Select line, a once-a-year release revered by discriminating decorators. Santos palisander and walnut veneers were inlayed over white ash to create the sunburst effect on the tabletop. The pattern itself draws inspiration from a George Nelson classic, the Flock of Butterflies wall mounted clock. The column and legs are composed of sturdy steel to ensure stability and longevity. The interior design is bright and neutral, cooled by smooth earth tones and peppered with live plants. An internal courtyard is home to live trees and a spectacular spiral staircase. Just inside the sliding glass walls is the stairwell and an office area – it be wonderful to have a view like that from your desk. You will see a few beautiful Air Division pieces throughout the JKC1 House – end tables, a couch, the glass-topped Ark dining table. The home is full of modern design treasures. Even the outdoor areas are simple but captivating; the pool and rooftop terrace are sleek and ultra minimalistic. What is your favorite part of the JKC1 House in Singapore?
