Water pressure is a series designed and created by dwellings ltd, takes its inspiration from one of the most basic elements in our daily lives—water. An interpretation of both man-made and natural water delivery systems, water pressure chandeliers evoke the range of water's forceful temperament, from a soothing sprinkle to an invigorating rush. The idea for water pressure was literally conceived during a bath renovation project in the futile search for that perfect lighting fixture. nothing quite right that seemed to articulate both "bath" and "out of the ordinary" could be found. So owner Evelyn and Arthur decided to create their own chandelier, with "lather up!" as the whimsical portrayal of an invigorating bubbly shower.
Evelyn Hutter, designer for dwellings ltd, saw the concept of water in suspended animation as an evocative notion, and now renders other thought-provoking water-inspired images into elegant modern chandeliers as part of the water pressure series. Arthur Malfitano, partner and production manager, handles the logistics behind the designs to ensure a seamless merge of vision and function. Conveying a modern aesthetic, water pressure features unconventional chandelier components. They use 100% STRASS Swarovski Crystals, but only those designed for jewelry and textile applications. Water pressure's "droplets" are actually nickel rings of varying sizes commonly used in the fashion industry. The chandelier body is crafted from architectural perforated metal, the type often seen as decorative panels in modern commercial buildings. To put it all together, droplets are suspended from the perforations via a crystal garment button above and hung by micro-stainless steel thread, with water's "target" further suspended by clear monofilament line for the most transparent effect. |
