Hollow Dining Chair
Three Brooklyn designers started Brave Space Design in order to develop multi-functional, high-end furniture with a playful sensibility and eco-conscious design. Their hollow dining chair is an excellent example of how successful they've been at their mission.
The lines are clean, angular and spare with no extraneous details. The overall impression is light, airy and playful while retaining enough elegance to suit any modern dining room. The bamboo grain is perfectly showcased by the simple lines and angles.
Our favorite version has half-moon cut-out on the rear half of the seat and the back of the chair are ergonomically designed to provide comfort and reduce strain on the back and soften the straight edges. The cut-outs also reveal the contrasting pattern of the bamboo beneath, a lovely touch that heightens the impact of the interesting textural appeal of bamboo's unmistakable grain. If you prefer an even sleeker look, you can order the chair without the cutaway for the ultimate in modern simplicity.
The dining chair's hollow design makes it lightweight and portable so that you can easily move it from room to room whenever you need additional seating. The chair is made entirely of bamboo, a naturally sustainable resource that's more environmentally friendly than slower-growing woods. They've finished it with a hand-rubbed herbal oil finish and non-toxic finish, keeping the entire creation eco-friendly.
You can get the hollow dining chair in either amber or blonde bamboo and is 33" high, 23" deep and 17" wide. The cut-away model is $900, while the flat back version is $650.
