Kundalini Hara Chair
Giorgio Gurioli designed the Hara chair for Kundalini of Italy, a design house famous for sleek, modern pieces that are rich in style and extremely versatile.
The Hara chair was recently designated #1 on GQ Magazines list of "100 Best Things in the World" with good reason – this chair is absolutely gorgeous in its combination of sinuous curves, comfort and vibrant color.
The shape of the Hara chair is truly arresting, putting one in mind of a four-leaf clover inside a circle of color. Gurioli understands that negative space is just as important as the materials in fine furniture, and he's utilized the negative space to devastating effect in his chair.
The slick curves and high-gloss finish are sensual to the touch as well as the eye. The combination of glossy curves and pared-down styling make the Hara chair a stand-out in any room, where it will look different from every angle as the eye follows the complex shape.
The Hara is made entirely of lacquered fiberglass in a hand-made process that utilizes thirteen individual moulds. This enables the makers to reinforce the junction points and any stress areas with extra layers of fiberglass for the greatest possible durability - this is a chair that will hold up under the most punishing use. The fiberglass construction also adds to the versatility - use it indoors or out without fear of damage from the weather or ultraviolet light. The color will be as bold and bright ten years from now as it is today.
