Lantern Birdhouse
Jonathan Adler's Lantern Birdhouse is the perfect functional eye candy for your yard or garden. Each stoneware birdhouse is hand thrown so that no two are exactly alike and finished with a soft, matte white glaze. In keeping with the naturalistic theme, each is surmounted by a raw jute cord for easy hanging in any tree.
The tear-drop shape of the lantern birdhouse resembles a plant bulb, reinforcing the rich organic nature of the piece. Shallow vertical ribs follow the curve of the birdhouse, gently swelling out and around as the birdhouse gets wider. In the front, the tear-drop shape is echoed in a plumper, wider shape for the center opening. The look of this opening has a touch of Moroccan richness to it as it comes to a delicate point, but the overall look is definitely mid-century modern.

Any self-respecting backyard bird will appreciate the cool, creamy color and roomy interior of Adler's lantern birdhouse. Whether you're hoping to attract a few bluebirds or simply admire the luxurious sculptural quality of this birdhouse, it's sure to collect comments as suspended sculpture in your trees. We suggest hanging a cluster of them in one corner of your garden, where the ribs will provide depth as they reflect the sunlight. In the evenings, the pearly glow of the white globes will add a touch of mystery.
You can find the Lantern Birdhouse at Haus Modern Living and Jonathan Adler Pottery.
