Light Emitting Wallpaper
We've always said that anything that has a dual purpose is a good design, and Jonas Samson's light emitting wallpaper proves our point beautifully. Take a look at the elegance of the wallpaper designs themselves, which are beautifully rendered apart from the way they, well, glow.
We've never seen anything like the way Samson has combined artfully rendered wall coverings and the practical application of light emitting diodes (LED's). The LED lights are so tiny that they are virtually undetectable where they are imbedded within the paper and give off a soft glow that's enough to light small room. It's the perfect subdued lighting for conversation or relaxing, although you'd probably want a lamp for reading. In the bedroom, this light emitting wallpaper could very well become the ultimate in mood lighting, casting an all-over warm glow that's rich in shadow and texture without the harsh overhead glare of more conventional lighting.
When switched off, you can't tell it's anything other than lovely, high-end wallpaper. The patterns are finely detailed and could stand alone without the LED function. Some patterns have multiple light settings so that, with room lights off, the LED lights come on in a progression so that the pattern shifts and changes for dramatic effect.
