SENZ Umbrella
Walking in the rain can be treacherous on a windy day, but the SENZ Umbrella is a brilliantly designed solution to a common stormy day problem. Most of us have had an umbrella turn inside-out in heavy winds, leaving us drenched, frustrated and feeling foolish while we struggled to untangle the ribs and get the thing fixed. The SENZ umbrella is designed to withstand gale force winds of up to 70 miles per hour and keep you perfectly dry!
Gerwin Hoogendoorn designed the oblong elliptical shape of the SENZ umbrella, which aerodynamically adjusts to the direction of the wind, automatically finding the most comfortable position with the least resistance. When you're carrying a SENZ umbrella, you're guaranteed a comfortable, dry stroll with almost no resistance or "tug" from the force of the wind against the umbrella. Specially designed ribs absorb some of the force of the wind as well.
We love the incredible attention to detail on the SENZ umbrellas. Hoogendoorn engineered them to address his frustration with umbrellas that couldn't withstand a stiff breeze, but when he partnered with Gerard Kool and Phillip Hess to perfect and patent the SENZ, they refined their umbrella with thoughtful features. An oval shaft that's comfortable to hold and an easy-open mechanism are great, but why don't all umbrellas have the SENZ umbrellas' "eye savers?" These simple plastic covers that go over the tips of the ribs will save many an eye from being poked - so simple, yet such an elegant solution! Why hasn't anybody else done this sooner?
