Wasp Trap from MENU
Picnics are always plagued by unwelcome visitors who buzz around the food and try and get in a few stings, but dangerous pesticides or intrusive bug zappers aren't an appealing or attractive solution. That's why we were thrilled to find Menu's Bee & Wasp trap, an updated, stylish version of an old-fashioned solution.
In days of old, wasp traps were nothing more than sugar water set out to lure insects away, but they weren't very effective. MENU's version changes all that. The funnel-shaped, stainless steel mouth allows insects in but doesn't let them out, so once they get to the enticing sugar and vinegar solution inside, they can't get out.
The smooth, irregular curves of this Wasp Trap are so appealing in any natural setting. Designed by Pernille Vea for MENU, each one is made of terra cotta in a deep charcoal black shade that mimics the color of lava rock. The opening in each is made of stainless steel with a rubber gasket for a tight seal and safety. The sleek steel against the matte charcoal is attractive but not intrusive and blends well with any décor.
