habitat ROCKER
Don't be put off by the thought of a rocking chair for your home anymore - the Rocker, designed by James Harrison for Habitat, is a world apart from your grandmother's rocking chair.
Harrison focused first on function and comfort, stripping the traditional rocking chair down to its simplest parts to create a distinctly clean, modern style that lacks nothing in the comfort and ease department. There are no extraneous trimmings to detract from the clean, look of the sides, where the negative space around the arms is as much a presence as the chair itself. It's the antithesis of the bulky, oversized rockers of the past at a mere
The seat is deep and wide with a high back upholstered in your choice of white or brown leather or a rich, purple-hued wool called "berry pink." The body of the Rocker is of solid oak in either natural (which shows off the rich graining to excellent advantage) or a dark stain for depth. The sharply leaning back, seat and arm rails follow crisp geometric dimensions, all angles and straight lines except for the slow, gentle curve of the rocker extending beyond the seat to give the chair occupant a full range of movement for maximum rock.
