skygarden Suspension Light
Like many of us, you probably love modern clean lines and choose lots of sleek, rather spare furnishings for your home. But you may also - like many of us - admire the sheer architectural richness and artistry of the beautiful plaster ceilings found in turn of the century homes. It's exactly what inspired Marcel Wanders to create his stunning skygarden Suspension Light – he fell in love with the elaborate antique plasterwork flowers in his apartment and designed a modern light that highlighted their stunning beauty.
The skygarden is a functional, contemporary light that's sleek on the outside, available in opal gold, white, black or rust to go with most of today's muted color schemes. The inside of each rounded pendant-style light, however, is a striking contrast. The interior is a richly detailed plasterwork masterpiece of floral sculpture in soft white. The halogen light in the center adds depth and dimension, throwing the floral work into relief, highlighting the exquisite detail of lush swags of roses and lilies, sprays of foliage and even the occasional butterfly.
The unusual contrast of the sleek, minimalist outer shell of these suspension lights with the soft, intricate plasterwork interior is the perfect way to accent any space with a touch of old world elegance. The skygarden light will soften any room without being overpoweringly fussy or stuffy; it's the ideal balance of modern sensibility and old fashioned elegance.
