It’s a Velorution!
Enroll at Ripon College, and you might get a Trek 820 mountain bike if you ditch your car
|
|
The President of Ripon College, David Joyce, wants to give incoming students a mountain bike package worth an upwards of $400, if they promise to honor the college’s try on Velorution. That’s right a free Trek 820 mountain bike for little more than a student’s good word.
Velorution is simply a trendy term for riding a bike instead of driving a car during daily commutes. Ripon is trying to bestow this very modern and very green idea on their students by giving away 200 Trek bikes, a helmet and a bike lock if scholars sign off on the promise not to bring a car on campus.
Ripon claims several wonderful things will come out of this Velo lifestyle including following up on the promise of not building more campus parking so they can keep the already limited green space that they have.
