The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) has a shiny new addition that is equally loved as much as it is loathed.
Designed by New York architect Daniel Libeskind, the steel and glass structure inspired by the shape of an actual crystal, was deemed one of seven new wonders of architectural world by acclaimed magazine Conde Naste Traveler.
Others beg to differ. Some high profiled critics include Toronto based architect Thomas Payne of KPMB Architects and Robert Ouellette of the National Post, who state they wouldn’t have included the Crystal on their top 7 list.
Regardless of what the lovers and haters personal take on the matter is, it has become 'Crystal' clear that Toronto is on the brink of a cultural rebirth and Libeskind’s design is right there at the starting line.
