Harrah’s Entertainment has recently been honored with the Environmental Quality Award directly from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for half of its properties in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
It is the first of its kind to receive such an esteemed award.
In recent years, Harrah’s have made changes to their operations at Bally’s, Caesars, Harrah’s and Showboat that encompass the eco-friendly lifestyle.
They have added efficient lighting, nontoxic cleaners and extra boilers, chillers and air handlers; all of which lead to the elimination of nearly 94 pounds of carbon dioxide each year.
To boot, the company has recycled nearly 50,000 gallons of cooking oil from its kitchen and eliminated the use of over 1 million polystyrene beverage cups.
Here’s to hoping the rest of the AC casinos can follow suit. Cheers!
